Here I am sipping my London Fog as I listen to a very jazzy version of “I’m dreaming of a white Christmas” in front of a real fire crackling away. Don’t you just love this time of year? Though, the snow in Ottawa has been elusive. Which was not a bad thing for us as we had a really great turn out at the Original Navan Market in November.
It was so heart warming to hear so many come and tell us “this year we’re only shopping local for Christmas”! Of course, that means that we sold all our soaps and bath salts and gift sets, and totally ran out of our chai latte, chai spices and London fog soap.
But don’t despair, there’s some more soaping and quite a bit of chai spice blending, and roasting being done behind the scenes. The chai spice blend is a well-guarded recipe handed down by my great grandmother who lived on the spice island of Zanzibar (yes, the exact same place that Freddie Mercury was born!) . This is the real deal.
Oh, and before I forget there’s a really neat website that brings together over 300 Ottawa makers together in one place. Ottawa Artisans is like one giant Christmas fair that you can shop at from the comfort of your own home. Their Naughty or Nice – Last Chance Market will run between December 10th to 13th, during which time all items you purchase from the various vendors will all be delivered locally for one fee of $10.
Today until Wednesday 9th December, we are also supporting Ecole Trille des Bois in their annual Christmas fair. The school is a Steiner-Waldorf school located in Vanier and for every sale through their Christmas fair page with this Discount Code shoppers receive 8% off everything the school receives a donation from participating vendors.
Talk soon. Toodles !!
